 Mohamed M Maie

Mr. Maie   is currently President and Chief Financial Officer of Tools for Humanity a non-profit Canadian community Economic Development and International humanitarian organization. He is a practitioner in social entrepreneurship and social change expertise both local and international development for the last 22 years.

He was a Candidate of Provincial Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) 2008 with Green Party of Canada. Co-founder of Tools for Humanity Institute, ACRC, Mideynta Somali Services and Ex. Vice Chairman of Alberta Council for Global Cooperation (ACGC), Chairman of Membership of Alberta Community Economic Development Network (ABCEDNET), member of steering committee of ICAN-CCEDNET and many mainstream and grass root community based organizations and projects inCanada,USA and Africa.

Where he gives public speaks and presentations to governments and Non-Government agencies in Canada, USA and Africa, about issues of low income and immigrant/refugees economic rights and human rights.

Mr. Maie served as Executive Director of ACRC a non-profit community base organization and served as a Coach and Consultant with a broad perspective and practical approach to community economic development (CED), cooperative development, and social economy and poverty issues.    He has a strong intuitive sense that allows him to contribute Canadian Community Economic Development Network (CCEDNET), National Social Enterprise, and Canadian Council for International Cooperation (CCIC) through Alberta Council for Global Cooperation.

Mr. Maie is a MBA Community Economic Development (CED) candidate at Cape Breton University and holds a Diploma’s in Health Care Administrative from Career Canada College and Bachelor’s degree from Somali National University.

He is the author and co-author of many reports and articles in Poverty and immigrant community, Community Economic development papers and professional journals, the editor of a book on Refugee Money Management for economic development practitioners, and a frequent speaker on social investment, sustainable economic development, community cooperative and poverty issues at both local and international conferences.
